![]() ![]() But I did see it shown in the tech reference manuals.īut folks can still just tether the cable through the case cover, like this: (which is how I suspect users of the EVEREX did with their cables, like for the in exploring about this stuff, I came across the dClock RTC. (but I did see in the tech reference the async-only and parallel-only cards, as mentioned)Īlso, I thought early versions of the 5150 case - on the back, it had an extra panel that seems to be the right size for adding an extra DB25 connector? I'm not sure if this is quite standard, since I've seen various "non-B" models without it as well. Just not seeing it mentioned, but I've seen it exists. Curious why IBM didn't offer serial+parallel early on - but I see on the earlier IBM 5110, the Serial and "Parallel IO" were different slot expanions there as well.ĭo you have any info on an IBM 6135333 serial/parallel part number? I didn't see any your notes site, and I read through the 51X0 tech manual up to 1985. Thanks again, I'm now seeing some of the original IBM serial cards, and how they are different - they were certainly available in 1982, but not in combinations. So I'd need some mapping between its 16-pin and the "standard" 15-pin. Not much info in the manual about the joystick port. ![]() the manual mentions an EV170B.EXE diagnostic software, so I'll try to seek that out (it's mentioned at WinWorld, but I'm not seeing how to actually obtain it) They can be made, but not entirely sure what 10-pin would map to which 25-pin on a DB25 cable. Looks like the board came with some 10-pin to 25-pin adapter cables, which unfortunately are now lost. Indeed I had been looking for how to use the parallel port for some general IO, and looks like this board can do it. (note the manual also mentions the serial port 1 chip can be toggled between DCE and DTE handshaking, while the port 2 and 3 are fixed to DTE). So the pins are there, but I'd need to find 16450, 8250A, or 8250 ICs - are those still fairly available (in a 40-pin package)? Not that I really need more serial ports, plus with only 5-slots in a 5150B I don't have space to tether it thru the back anyway. it look like in mine, I don't have the IC chips for serial port 2 and 3. Here are some of the highlights I took from it: I read through the EV170B manual, great info there. ![]()
